During my Erasmus semester I worked with an international team on developing the concept for an AR game and building a demo of it.

The Finnish city of with 120,000 inhabitants Like many other European city centres, downtown Lahti is visited less and less, and its shop units are emptying out. The city offered us one of these units, and we imagined an AR escape room for it: players move through the real space wearing AR glasses, while the space itself is augmented with virtual objects. The goal is to get out of the building by solving the puzzles.

We produced a demo version that uses the real location as its setting but can be played sitting down, anywhere, as a VR game.

How It Was Made
Once the concept was set, we scanned the shop unit with a Matterport Pro2 3D scanner and cleaned up the scanning errors on the 3D model. We textured the model, modelled the various game elements and added extra walls inside the space. We imported all the 3D models into Unity and finally programmed the demo.
