Das Leben der Anderen (The Lives of Others, 2006) — a remake of the film's title sequence, reflecting its dark and tense atmosphere, made for a university assignment.

The sequence features the film's iconic objects — a listening device, medicines, files — while the names of the crew fall onto the surfaces as shadows, a nod to the surveillance that is constantly present in the film.

How It Was Made
I built the sequence out of objects evoking the film's world, sourced from my grandparents' garage. I shot them close up from various angles, both static and moving. The moving shots were
shot with a slider. I wanted the names to appear as shadows, so I cut them out with a vinyl cutter, stuck them on a sheet of glass and lit them with a spotlight placed high above. In some shots I moved the lamp to make the lettering move.
