From the age of 17 I travelled a lot across Europe, sinking most of my savings into it. I believed that nobody can take our memories away from us, so travelling — accumulating memories — is a good investment. Memories in themselves are not tangible and cannot be counted, but as with any good investment I wanted some kind of statement I could hold, so I kept photographing and filming on every trip. Once home, I dutifully uploaded the footage to my server and most of the time did nothing with it.

My thesis research and the This Is How I Went project are about how to make tens of thousands of photographs and dozens of hours of video footage manageable. igymentem.hu became a website where visitors can dip into my 32 hours of footage in a grid layout, looping, starting from random points in time. They can click a video to hear its sound, or jump to another random moment, but they have no other control — so there is no paralysis of choice: you watch whatever the machine serves up.
